FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GENERATION RELEVANT
AND ENTERCOM BROADCASTING JOIN FORCES WITH THE PARTNERSHIP
FOR A DRUG FREE AMERICA TO LAUNCH FACE THE MUSIC CONCERT
SERIES FOLLOWING T-BONES BASEBALL GAME AT COMMUNITY
AMERICA BALLPARK
Kansas City, MO –
June 13, 2005 –
Generation Relevant and Entercom Broadcasting are
proud to present an entertainment package that combines
the excitement of sports with alternative rock music
from popular band Lipriddle to deliver a positive
youth development message that supports the Partnership
for a Drug Free America’s effort to educate
the next generation of leaders who will shape our
nation’s future.
The Community America Ballpark provides a family-friendly
environment that fosters a closer relationship between
parents and their teens. A direct correlation has
been established between the frequency with which
parents discuss the dangers of illegal substance abuse
and stronger anti-drug attitudes among teens.
The live concert will kick off a multi-year Face the
Music Concert Series on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at
7pm. Entercom Broadcasting has been aggressively promoting
the event on Kansas City’s leading alternative
radio station to reach teens. In a series of interviews
with Generation Relevant founder Chad Bourquin on
the Heartland Business Roundtable, it has also aimed
its publicity efforts directly at the parents who
tune in to KXTR, the market’s only station that
combines classical music with specialty talk programming.
“Generation Relevant is a collection of uniquely
talented people from artistic, athletic and entrepreneurial
backgrounds who are committed to living meaningful
lives and sharing their personal journeys to success
and failure with young people,” says Bourquin.
“Today’s youth are looking for an honest
practical account of life and its obstacles. The motivational
messages from the band members throughout the performance
resonates with teens and leaves a lasting, positive
impression.”
With just under one billion dollars moving out of
traditional media into cause related marketing last
year, sponsors are lining up to support this marriage
of live entertainment, community outreach and youth
development. Charter sponsors include U.S. Army, The
Great Mall of the Great Plains, the Church of Scientology
of Kansas City and ABC Homebuyers.
"Our high profile rollout of this cause related
marketing initiative with a strong youth development
partner like Generation Relevant helps the Partnership
for a Drug Free America remind parents and teens that
there are millions of people who have confronted and
overcome problem use of alcohol and drugs,”
says Marketing Executive Andrew Ellenberg who is spearheading
the strategic alliance for Entercom in Kansas City.
“Nothing leverages local radio’s emotional
connection to the community more than rallying our
listeners around a worthy cause.”
Generation Relevant is a leading youth development
organization that provides inspiration to teens by
breaking common negative stereotypes, encouraging
an entrepreneurial spirit and motivating students
to embark on meaningful careers.
The Partnership for a Drug Free America is a non-profit
coalition of professionals from the communications
industry. Through its national drug-education advertising
campaign, the Partnership exists to help kids, teens
and parents reject substance abuse by influencing
attitudes through persuasive communication.
Entercom Kansas City is a strategic combination of
eight radio stations that reach 1.2 million consumers
in the fifty communities of the Greater Kansas City
Metro, making it the definitive radio market share
leader.
